We specialize in weaves and other methods of Hair Extensions.
For eons, women have used hair extensions to enhance the natural beauty of their hair. Hair extensions, also called hair weaves, are lengths of real or synthetic hair that are closely attached to a person’s scalp, adding length and/or thickness to the person’s own natural hair. There are several different systems for attaching hair extensions, some of which are longer lasting than others. When well matched in color and texture, and professionally applied by our stylists, hair extensions are designed to mix in and move naturally with a person’s own hair, making it difficult to tell the person is wearing them. They can provide volume, extend hair, and add highlights or low lights.
With the proper maintenance, some extensions can last for several months before they need to be redone or removed.
Types of Extensions
We have both human and synthetic hair extensions are available, and both come in a variety of colors, textures, styles, and lengths. Each type has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Natural or Human hair extensions are usually significantly more expensive than their synthetic counterparts, though they are typically considered to be of higher quality. Synthetic hair is made from chemically processed fibers; although more affordable, it may not look as real and can be more difficult to style.
Methods of Application
SEW – IN WEAVES
Hair extensions can also be sewn into the hair. The person’s natural hair is usually braided tight and close to the scalp in cornrows, and the weft sewn into the braid. This method can be last for a long time with proper care.
ENCLOSURE
Closures refer to the oblong or circle shaped lace that has hair attached, so it can be used to place on the top or side of your hair in order to make your weave look more natural when rocking a full head of weave.
MICRO LINKS
Longer-lasting extensions can be added to natural hair with metal rings or keratin tubing. In this process, the hair is attached to a small ring or tube, which is clamped onto pieces of real hair. This is a popular method, as damage to the natural hair is minimal, and no adhesives or solvents are used that could potentially irritate sensitive skin.
BONDING
Bonding or gluing usually involves longer wefts of hair, tracks that can be up to 6 inches (15.24 cm) long. An adhesive is applied to the roots of the hair before the extension is applied. This method is usually relatively quick to do, but does not last as long as others.
FUSION
Fused hair extensions are hair extensions that are fused on to the natural hair using one of two methods, the hot fusion method or the cold fusion method. Fusion hair extensions are performed for aesthetic reasons to add volume and length to the existing hair. Professional hair extensions can generally last for a period of three to six months, and some amount of maintenance and tightening may be required in this duration.
TAPE IN / SKIN WEFT
A Tape or Adhesive Skin Weft hair extension is a hairpiece that can be attached to the wearer’s scalp by a specialized tape system. Tape-ins attach to thick sections of your hair with a double-sided keratin tape. Small Strips of tape are used to sandwich a person’s real hair and the extensions.
CLIP ON EXTENSIONS
There are clips-ins, like Top Secret Hair, which pop in and out in two seconds.
CROCHET METHOD HAIR EXTENSIONS
Also known as Crochet Weave, the natural hair can be twisted or braided, but is most commonly styled into cornrows before affixing the hair extensions. Using a latch hook or crochet hook, the hair extensions (in the form of loose bulk) is then attached.
Parts of the hair extensions are grabbed by the hook and pulled through the underside of each cornrow, working from the front of the hair to the back at a 90 degree angle.
